The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 kicked off its 26th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month on Monday afternoon, July 5 picking on the theme: “Pulisya at Pamayanan, BARANGAYanihan sa Hamon ng Pandemya at Laban sa Krimen” with Hon. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr., Mayor of Talisay City, Cebu as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. The activity was held at PRO7 Headquarters, Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr., Cebu City.
PRO7 Regional Director PBGEN RONNIE A MONTEJO spearheaded the police-community relations campaign, which was designed to forge partnership and strengthen community participation in peacekeeping and public safety programs of the PNP.
The celebration was highlighted by the presentation of a plaque of recognition and awards to the different stakeholders for the unwavering support extended to Team PRO7 in its programs and thrusts especially in community policing.
The PCR Month celebration aims to develop closer interaction between the police and the community in handling peace and order concerns, an opportune time to strengthen community participation in crime prevention. The support of the community is vital in increasing the PNP’s effectiveness in enforcing the law, reducing crime and maintaining peace which remain the priority order under CPNP’s Intensified Cleanliness Policy.
The PCR Month is under Presidential Proclamation No. 764 signed on January 24, 2005, declaring the month of July every year as Police Community Relations Month.
