Residents of Sitio Kakha, Barangay Talalak in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental benefited from the community outreach program in relations to NTF-ELCAC conducted jointly by Police Regional Office 7, and Local Government Unit of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental on April 24, 2021 held at Kakha Elementary School, Brgy. Talalak, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.
PBGEN RONNIE S MONTEJO, PRO7 Regional Director, said in a statement, that the activity intends to deliver free basic social services to the community and enhances people awareness of the various civic programs of the government and strengthens ties between government forces and community leaders in Negros Oriental.
“Ang atong kalihukan karon usa ka paagi sa pagkab-ot sa kumunidad pinaagi sa pag hatag ug tabang sa mga katawhan. Pinaagi ani nga kalihokan mapalig-on nato ang kampanya sa gobyerno aron mahunong ang mga panagsumpaki, kabangis ug terorismo diri sa inyong lungsod. Gusto namo nga lig-onon ang atong relasyon sa katawhan ngadto sa ilang mga opisyales sa barangay, LGU ug sa PNP isip tig proteher sa kahapsay ug kalinaw sa lungsod,” added PBGEN MONTEJO.
The said endeavor was in collaboration with the LGU of Santa Catalina, 302nd Brigade, Philippine Army, Municipal councilors, barangay officials and other government agencies.
The activity provided lecture on the youth and students from CPP/NDF/NPA recruitment and free medical and legal consultations. It also offered free services of haircut, distribution of food packs and hygiene kits. Children received pairs of slippers, loot bags, clothing, vitamins, snacks and toys.
In attendance during the program were Mayor Peve Ligan of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental; Brgy. Chairman Edmar Bigay of Brgy. Talalak; PCOL BRYANT DEMOT, Provincial Director, NOPPO; PCOL JOSEFINO LIGAN, City Director, CCPO; PLTCOL MARCIAL YANGUAS, Deputy Chief, RCD 7; PLTCOL MA. AURORA RAYOS, Chief, RPIO 7, PMAJ REY DELOS SANTOS, RCADD 7; PCPT ALLEN JUNE GERMODO, OIC, Sta. Catalina Munipal Police Station and members of the media.
Furthermore, Barangay Talalak in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental was first visited by PGEN DEBOLD M SINAS, CPNP as PRO7 Regional Director on May 24, 2019. Medical and dental outreach programs were conducted at the said barangay bringing government services closer to the people living in the remote areas with insurgency problem and improve the lives of every Filipino with the assistance from the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
The municipality of Santa Catalina is a first class municipality in the province of Negros Oriental and has a population of 75,756 according to the 2015 Census.
