POLICE CAPTURE SUSPECT IN ZAMBO KIDNAP

 
 
Police anti-kidnapping operatives captured on Tuesday a key suspect in the September 16 kidnapping of a 64-year old American-Filipino farmer during a police operation in Zamboanga City.
 
In a report to PNP Chief, Police General Camilo Pancratius P Cascolan, Police Brig. Gen. Jonel Estomo, Director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group said the operation was launched by operatives of AKG-Mindanao Field Office led by PLTCOL Clarence Gomeyac, backed by operatives from Police Regional Office 9 Intelligence Division, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, Military Intelligence Group 9, Regional Maritime Unit 9, and Zamboanga City Police Office at 5:30 PM along the shoreline of Barangay Arena Blanco.
 
ANERSON TUNGAYAO y Manambahi, a resident of Brgy Tapanayan, Sirawai, Zamboanga Del Norte was carrying an M16 assault rifle when accosted by operating troops who immediate placed him under arrest. Another target of the operation, INJAM YADAH, an Abu Sayyaf sub-leader eluded arrest.
According to Estomo, the group of Yadah and Tungayao is responsible in the September 16 kidnapping of Rex Triplitt in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte. The victim was safely rescued in a daring police-military operation on September 30.
 
Estomo said the group was set to jump-off for another kidnapping when the police intervention foiled their plan.
 
The AKG Chief said the group disguise themselves as construction workers when conducting, kidnapping, extortion and other criminal activity, mostly victimizing local businssmen in the Zamboanga peninsula area.
