Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, in coordination with the Archdiocese of Cebu and Cebu City Government, joined the solemnity of Christ the King Celebration that marks the end of the liturgical year and starts the Year of the Youth on Sunday, November 25. Feast of Christ the King, also called Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, is celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church in honor of Jesus Christ as lord over all creation. The feast of Christ the King is celebrated on the final Sunday of Ordinary Time.

This year’s Christ the King commemorates Cebu City as next year’s host of the National Youth Day. Unified with the theme, “Filipino Youth in Mission: Beloved, Gifted and Empowered, ” the Archdiocese of Cebu will officiate the said event.

The National Youth Day commenced with a Holy Mass among youth congregations at Fuente Osmeña Circle in Cebu City at around 2:00 pm and officially concluded with a eucharistic procession from Fuente Osmeña up to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

According to Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, this year’s incoming liturgical year is a sign of hope for the country and for the youth as well.

PCSUPT DEBOLD M SINAS, Regional Director, added that the PRO7 deployed crowd-control personnel to secure the celebration. The police has expressed its readiness to keep the peace and maintain order for Christ the King and National Youth Day celebrations.
